THE NEWBERRY MUSIC HALL - 388 BROADWAY - SARATOGA SPRINGS

Particle began its journey in Los Angeles in 2000 as one of the key pioneers of the emerging ‘livetronica’ music scene. The band created a signature sound that combined elements of Electronica, Funk and Rock with a heavy emphasis on improvisation and sonic exploration, and their influence can still be felt and heard in many of today’s top touring Jam and EDM/Funk bands.

Always striving to think outside the box and create unique concert experiences, Particle paired their high-energy dance music with cutting-edge multimedia production, thematic special events, and epic marathon sets that quickly developed a loyal fan base of Particle People spanning genre lines from jam to EDM.

Particle went on to perform in eight different countries and headline venues coast-to-coast, from the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles to Irving Plaza in New York City. The band has also been a staple at major U.S. festivals including Bonnaroo, Coachella, ACL Festival and Lollapalooza.

Particle is led by keyboardist/songwriter, Steve Molitz, whose innovative approach to keyboards and improvisational music has made him a mainstay on the national music scene since he first founded the band fourteen years ago. Well-known for programming and playing vintage keyboards and analog synthesizers, Molitz appeared at the inaugural Moogfest (A Tribute to Bob Moog), and was later tapped to help design Moog’s Little Phatty synthesizer. Molitz has also toured, recorded and performed with a wide range of artists, including: Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead), Robby Krieger (The Doors), Rich Robinson (The Black Crowes), G Love and Special Sauce, Tricky, Eve, The Allman Brothers Band, and many more.

Particle's first studio album, Launchpad (2004), was produced by Tom Rothrock (Beck, Moby, Foo Fighters) and received critical praise and exclusive coverage from mainstream news outlets, including Rolling Stone, The New York Times, and CNN. The band's double-live CD and DVD Transformations: Live (2006) was produced by Shout Factory and featured guest performances by Joe Satriani, Robby Krieger, Blackalicious, and DJ Logic.

In late 2006, Particle went on a semi-hiatus, as they cut down to less than 20 shows per year to accommodate the band’s changing family and work situations. During this time, Molitz began a long run of touring and recording with other high-profile artists, and composing music for video games and film. The band’s semi-hiatus lasted until 2014, when Molitz felt the overwhelming desire to relaunch Particle as a full-time band. For years he’d been listening to fans remind him of classic performances (“I was there!”) and ask when the band would finally return to the road again. So along with guitarist Ben Combe, bassist Clay Parnell, and drummer Brandon Draper, Molitz has officially returned to touring full-time with Particle, and to continuing the band’s ever-evolving journey…

Particle is currently hard at work finishing enough studio tracks to populate up to two new full-length albums, both of which will be released in 2015. In the meantime, the band plans to premiere select studio singles and to make their new music as accessible as possible for old and new fans alike. As Molitz said in a recent interview, “Particle has always been fueled by the energy of our fans, and we’re so excited to get back out on the road full-time, and to share all of this new music with the Particle People...”

Where do you begin the task of trying to describe Johnny Rizzo?  The elastic faces, the flopping limbs, the silly, googly eyes…he’s got you in stitches and he hasn’t even opened his mouth yet!  And once that happens, you’re gone.  At the end of the night, your face hurts – literally – from the constant laughter.  He has earned the nickname, “The Rubber-Faced Comedian.”

Part old school (think Red Skelton, Jerry Lewis, Danny Kaye) intertwined with his own unique observations on everyday life, Johnny Rizzo has been cracking up audiences around the country for over 30 years.  Born in raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Johnny cut his comedy teeth in some of the most hallowed clubs in New York City, including Catch a Rising Star, Caroline’s, Dangerfield’s and The Comic Strip.  Before long, Johnny was opening all over the country for superstars including Jay Leno, Richard Belzer, Dennis Miller, Tommy Chong, Joan Rivers, “Weird” Al Yankovic, Ray Charles, Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Mamas and the Papas, Pat Cooper and Henny Youngman.
Johnny has headlined across the country at The Bitter End in NYC, the Borgota Casino in Atlantic City, the Riviera and Sun Coast casinos in Las Vegas and at all the major comedy clubs, including Madison Square Garden.  He has appeared on numerous television programs including NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Fox’s 30 Seconds to Fame, A & E Comedy on the Road and The Joan Lunden Show. He also received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Achievement – Performance Artist, for the acclaimed CPTV comedy special, Hot Summer Nights.  He also hosted his own public-access talk and variety show, The Johnny Rizzo Show.

Johnny has also toured the country as part of Jim Labriola’s Night of 1000 Guidos comedy revue show.  He continues to perform hundreds of shows per year.  “I’m a road monkey,” says Johnny, “I’m paying off my car with jokes.”

He has appeared in numerous television commercials and also appeared in feature films. Johnny is currently the host of ESOTERICA with Johnny Rizzo, a offbeat radio program now available for free downloads on iTunes.

Paul Bond is a Long Island born, stand up comic who's worked his way up the New York comedy scene, and now headlines at comedy clubs across the country.

Paul is also an accomplished musician and song parody writer and produces numerous songs for syndicated comedy radio shows nationally, with his own company Air Sick Productions.

Along with his hilarious stand up comedy, Paul also brings his guitar playing skills to his stage show and the end result is a funny, high-energy night of entertainment.

Paul's regular appearances on radio shows such as Roger & JP in the Morning, Waking Up with the Wolf, Ron & Fez, Opie and Anthony have proven him to be a quick witted personality that's welcomed on the air.

Recently, Paul just got off of a National Tour with Jim Breuer, of "Saturday Night Live" & "Half Baked" fame. He appeared as Jim's special guest comedian, opening the show and also as guitar player in his back-up band. The tours included such venues as Madison Square Garden in NY, The Fillmore in San Francisco and the House of Blues nationallyl. You can also see Paul in the Comedy Central Special, Jim Breuer "Hardcore", now on DVD and hear Paul's guitar chops on Jim's new CD "Smoke-N-Breu".

He's also collaborated on a few projects with other writers. Two of them are sitcoms called "Now What?!!!" , written with fellow comic Greg Vaccarello and "Perfect Pitch". Another project is a wrestling cartoon called "Smarks". With any luck, one of these shows will be picked up and appear on National TV sometime in the future.

Comedian, columnist Kevin Downey, Jr. has been recently labeled, “refreshingly bizarre” by fellow comedian Joe Mulligan. Kevin headlined small rooms all over the U.S. and enjoyed a “cult” following, (that means only 28 people dug him), until his frequent and on-going bookings at the Comedy Stop at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, which has brought him to a new level of notoriety. Kevin now works “A” clubs everywhere, and to larger and larger audiences. The Early Years- Whereas most comedians will lie about where they grew up in an effort to gain, “street creds”, comedian, columnist and all around swell guy Kevin Downey, Jr. actually did grow up in Detroit MI. He made his TV debut at age 6 on CKLW’s, “The Bozo Show” where he won a hockey stick, a 12-pack of Orange Crush and some Tootsie Rolls playing, “The Bug Game”. Like all kids in Detroit Kevin attempted to play ice hockey, but his first and only season was cut short when the coach realized Kevin was too small to skate while wearing all the gear, thus clearing the way for Wayne Gretzky to top Gordie Howe’s achievements. Bright Lights burnin' Gonna set your Soul on Fire- Kevin moved to New York City looking for fame and fortune. He instantly landed a, “part” at Macy’s Santa land as an elf, (some call it the longest running show on Broadway). Kevin was decimated to learn all elves were fired after the Christmas Eve shift. Shortly thereafter Kevin went to his first comedy show at New York’s Comic Strip Live and realized his calling, though it would be three years until he had the stones to get on stage himself. Money for nothing and your chicks for free Today Kevin is headlining clubs everywhere in the U.S. He can be heard on The Bob and Tom Show, Sirius and XM Satellite radio regularly. He’s been on Comedy Central, What Not to Wear, and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy where he got a much needed haircut.  RODNEY LANEY was born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey and has always been a comedian. Even as a toddler, he would entertain at family gatherings, most of the time against his will. Years of therapy have helped him recover from these traumatic times. Thanks to Rodney's school years, school administrators decided corporal punishment was no longer necessary in the school system; they now want capital punishment!

Laney's comedy career started capriciously while in the Air Force. He was stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio where he accompanied a fellow airman, an amateur comic, to a comedy club. His friend bombed, but Rod took the stage and received thunderous applause. It was instant addiction. For Rodney, it was the stage, for his friend it was… Well, you know. He has executive produced and acted in the feature film Pride & Loyalty, which started as a pay per view release. He played Willie in the comedy “Tinsel Town,” created by Public Defender Pictures, which starred John Palumbo (OZ) and Johnny Williams, (GoodFellas, Honeymoon in Vegas.)

Rodney has completed pilots for Comedy Central, MTV, A&E and has been seen on P. Diddy’s Bad Boys of Comedy on HBO, Fox News Channel's Red Eye, The Late Late Show CBS, Comedy Central's Premium Blend, and in London on the BBC's The World Stand's Up. He has been seen on truTV’s The Smoking Gun Presents…, the HD channels Comedy.tv, and LOL Lounge as TBS Presents A Very Funny Festival: Just for Laughs Chicago. He has also appeared at the prestigious Just for Laughs Comedy Festival Montreal. Rodney also has two appearances on Gotham Comedy Live.

With an inspired blend of lunacy that includes physical humor, impersonations, stylized caricatures of nightclub singers and his signature "man on the street" interviews. Emmy Award winner KEVIN MEANEY has been one of the country's most popular standup comedians for more than 25 years. Tom Shale's of the Washington Post said, "Picture the precocious love child of Jonathan Winters and Ethel Merman and you have some idea of Kevin Meaney's act." Making people laugh has always been a top priority for Kevin. From his early years doing standup comedy in San Francisco and Boston he's amassed an impressive list of credits along the way. His first HBO special in 1986 catapulted him to the forefront of the comedy scene. In 1987 Kevin made his debut appearance on, "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson and was invited by Johnny to join the guest panel. Since his first appearance Kevin has returned to the show a dozen times. He was a special guest on Saturday Night Live and has appeared on Letterman, Regis, Oprah and Conan. Kevin is also an accomplished actor, having starred in the CBS sitcom, "Uncle Buck" which ran for a full season. In addition, he has done numerous guest appearances on both sitcoms and dramas. He also had a featured role in the movie 'Big". In 2006, Kevin expanded his acting repertoire to appear in the Broadway production of Hairspray as The Male Authority Figure, playing five roles - Mr. Pinky, Harriman F. Spritzer, The Principal, The Cop and the Flasher. Kevin is also a successful writer and producer. He wrote and produced and starred in a one-man autobiographical play titled, Wedding Vows in Vegas which premiered at the prestigious U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado before going on to a successful summer run in Boston at the Hasty Pudding Theatre. Steve Martin called it, "The most innovative, heart-rending and funny show I've seen in a long, long time." Known for drawing upon his family relationships for much of his material, Kevin has made such lines as "That's not Right" and "We're Big Pants People" and "We're going to lose the house" (delivered in the tremulous voice of his mother) catch phrases for hilarity. An evening with Kevin is a trip to the funhouse and one laugh escalates into a bigger one and good-hearted humor prevails. So, Big Pants People of the world unite...your leader is here, his name is Kevin Meaney and he's on a mission of mirth. Kevin is currently living in New York with his daughter Kate.

Flip Orley - 9/22

THE COMEDY WORKS - 388 BROADWAY - SARATOGA SPRINGS (next to Circus Cafe)

Since bursting on the comedy scene Flip Orley has single - handedly reshaped the image of hypnosis from its vaudeville image, to an act hip and edgy enough for the MTV generation. Flip’s appearance on the “Today Show” brought rave reviews and stopped traffic in midtown Manhattan. His first appearance was so successful he was invited back several times.

Flip’s one-man show has set comedy club attendance records from coast to coast. Faithful fans and newcomers alike find themselves screaming with laughter as Flip ignites his volunteers’ subconscious minds and transforms reality. What sets Orley apart from others in his craft, is his true comedic ability, delivering a hilarious stand up set before unleashing his volunteers creative imaginations.

"... it's difficult to remain skeptical..."

The Los Angeles Times attests that “...the beauty of Orley’s show is that, because most of the humor comes from the volunteers, and no two performances are alike.

The Dallas Morning News reports, “It’s difficult to remain skeptical after seeing Flip transform a panel of well-behaved audience members into a family of trailer-park dwellers from Arkansas, Southern accent and all!”

Orley has been seen on “Entertainment Tonight,” “The Martin Short Show,” “Comic Strip Live,” the “Ricki Lake Show,” Maury Povich” and “Space Ghost Coast To Coast.” It is his uncanny way with subjects, his finely tuned power of suggestion and rapid-fire delivery that keep audiences coming back for more. Unlike past and many current generations of hypnotists, Orley does not humiliate his subjects for comic effect. Orley prefers to entertain by bringing out the creativity from his volunteers and enlightening his audiences...often with lasting beneficial effects on those who have been inducted. After making them forget their own names, having them regress to age 5, or pledge undying love to complete strangers in a highly original version of “The Newlywed Game.” Flip’s subjects often awaken from their hypnotic trance reporting less stress, an ability to sleep better, have more energy, and a renewed libido!

Flip is adamant about “not” embarrassing his volunteers. “I want the audience to laugh with them, not at them,” he says. “This is the purest form of improvisational entertainment you will ever see as the show rewrites itself every night, with the volunteers as my partners, not my victims. Each subject is treated with respect and gentility.”

"... held over by popular demand."

Orley’s journey to becoming the country’s hippest hypnotist of his time began when he bought a book in the 6th grade called “How to Pick Up Girls Through Hypnotism.” Although the advice in that particular book did not pay off, Orley became obsessed with the subject, realizing the creative potential and learned everything he could about it. Flip studied psychology at University Of Arizona with the intention of becoming a clinical hypnotist. It was while majoring in psychology at the University of Arizona, however, that Orley discovered stand-up comedy. Hypnosis took second place for a time as Orley honed his comedic skills in small clubs around the country eventually merging the two. The rest is comedy club history as marquees across the nation invariably read “Flip Orley/ Held Over By Popular Demand, for up to 12 weeks at a time.

"... Flip hopes the audience recognizes the possible benefits of hypnosis"

Realizing the value of the clinical side of hypnotism, Flip developed techniques in seminars and workshops to help people get in touch with their inner strength through the power of their own subconscious minds. Orley’s self-help CD’s address a variety of issues such as, stress management, weight control, smoking cessation, and sleep disorders. Dentists, doctors and patients who are allergic to anesthesia have called upon Flip’s abilities. Orley assisted one dentist who operated on a patient for almost 2 hours without an anesthetic. The subject awakened without pain and thought the whole thing was a scam, until she looked into a mirror. Orley maintains that he teaches his subjects how to more successfully explore their creativity, imaginations and unlock their own subconscious minds.

Flip has performed his shows on television, in comedy night clubs, theatres, for fortune 500 companies, and in casino showrooms. When Flip takes the stage and rolls up his sleeves, his audience can expect two hours of FUN and an experience they will never forget. Flip’s interviews are interesting and entertaining. His stories of subconscious creativity will have you laughing out loud.

One of the longest-running cast members in the 37-year history of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, versatile comedian Tim Meadows crafted some of the series’ most memorable characters during his 10 years on the popular late night show.  Such characters included Leon Phelps, The Ladies’ Man and Lionel Osbourne, host of the fictional public affairs show, Perspectives, as well as uncanny impressions of OJ Simpson, Ike Turner and Sammy Davis Jr.  Meadows also played school principal in the hit comedy MEAN GIRLS and recently co-starred with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock in the blockbuster comedies GROWN UPS and GROWN UPS 2. He was most recently on the NBC series MARRY ME starring as Casey Wilson’s father.

Born in Highland Park, Mich., and raised in Detroit, Meadows studied television and radio broadcasting at Wayne State University before performing improvisational comedy at the Soup Kitchen Saloon.  In 1985, Meadows relocated to Chicago, where he first joined Improv-Olympic, and then the legendary comedy troupe Second City.   During his three-years at Second City, he wrote and starred in productions of The Gods Must Be Lazy, with Chris Farley; It Was Thirty Years Ago Today; and Flag Smoking Permitted in Lobby Only, gaining a loyal following with his sharp comedic talent.  In 1991, Meadows achieved the dreams of comics nationwide when producer Lorne Michaels asked him to join SNL as a featured player.  Nominated for an Emmy® as part of the show’s writing team that same month, he later made the transition to cast member status two years afterward.

Several years after appearing in a string of films based on Saturday Night Live sketches, including CONEHEADS and WAYNE'S WORLD 2, Meadows was offered his own chance at features.  The 2000 release of Paramount’s THE LADIES MAN gave the eponymous hero Leon Phelps the opportunity to bring his Courvoisier-drinking romantic adviser to the big screen.  That same year, he left SNL to join NBC’s prime-time line-up as a regular cast member on The Michael Richards Show, and in 2002, he joined the cast of the NBC sitcom Leap of Faith.

Meadows also co-starred in the Sony Pictures comedy WALK HARD: THE DEWEY COX STORY with John C. Reilly. Other films include JACK AND JILL, BENCHWARMERS, SEMI-PRO with Will Ferrell and ALIENS IN THE ATTIC with Kevin Nealon and Ashley Tisdale. He was series regular on The Bill Engvall Show and Glory Daze on TBS and is a regular correspondent on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on CBS and The Colbert Report on Comedy Central. Some of his other television credits include The Office, The New Adventures of The Old Christine and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Tim also lends his voice to animated hit comedies, The Life & Times of Tim and Bob’s Burgers.

The Winnipeg Press said it best: “Gentle as a starved wolverine and as predictable as a tipsy-hop through a minefield”. Nick Di Paolo’s honest and acerbic comedy has made him a sought after voice on stage, television and radio for years and earned him two Emmy Nominations for writing.

Di Paolo’s career took off after he appeared on “HBO’s Young Comedian Special”. He has since written and performed four standup specials and four CDs. The most recent standup effort being a one hour Showtime special entitled “Raw Nerve”.

He was a regular for the whole two year run of “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn” and became a staple on the Comedy Central roasts. Other notable television and film credits include “Louie”, “Lucky Louie”, Artie Lange’s “Beer League” a guest starring role on “The Sopranos” and “The Chris Rock Show”, where he was a writer for two seasons as well. Writing credits also include the 77th Annual Academy Awards and the MTV Music Video Awards.

For years he has been a favorite guest on radio shows including “The Howard Stern Show”, “The Opie and Anthony Show” and “The Dennis Miller Show” to name a few. He also hosted “The Nick Di Paolo Show” in New York City in 2007 and “The Nick and Artie Show” from 2011-2012.

Nick Di Paolo is probably one of the most authentic voices whether on or off stage. He’s referred to as a comic’s comic because there are no facades, no act. It’s all Nick Di Paolo, all the time.
